Step-By-Step Instructions

Here is how to make this delicious dip recipe.

Step 1: Dump one can of rinsed and drained black beans, two heaping tablespoons of the dairy free sour cream and two tablespoons of taco seasoning into the bowl of a food processor or high speed blender.  Pulse a few times and then process on high until the beans are smooth and creamy.

Step 2: On a round serving platter, layer the black bean mixture on the bottom, a layer of Mexican style shreds, the guacamole, and then more of the Mexican style shreds.

Step 3: To make the sour cream spider web design fill a squeeze bottle with some of the dairy free sour cream.  Shake well to ensure there are no air bubbles.

Step 4: Starting in the center, create a filled in circle with the squeeze bottle.  Then make lines going out from the circle to the edge of your platter and two additional circles around the center circle to make a web.

Step 5: Use one olive cut in half to make the body of the spider and slice the other half into thin strips to make the legs.  Place the spider on the sour cream web.  Serve and enjoy!

Expert Tips

  • Feel free to adjust the level of spiciness by modifying the amount of taco seasoning or adding extra ingredients like jalapeños if you prefer more heat.

  • This is best served fresh, so plan to make it right before your guests arrive!

Variations

  • Instead of Violife's Mexican Style Shreds, you can experiment with other dairy free cheese brands and flavors. Try using vegan cheddar, pepper jack, or mozzarella-style cheese for a different twist.

  • While store-bought guacamole is convenient, making homemade guacamole with fresh avocados, lime juice, cilantro, and seasonings can add a homemade touch.

  • Include a layer of your favorite salsa between the black bean mixture and the cheese for extra flavor and a zesty kick.

  • Sprinkle fresh chopped cilantro, green onions or parsley over the top for a burst of color and added freshness.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the dip with a variety of dippable options like tortilla chips, fresh vegetables, or even warm tortillas.
